{"id":29751,"date":"2023-07-27T09:03:22","date_gmt":"2023-07-27T07:03:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thema-med.com\/?p=29751"},"modified":"2023-07-28T10:16:06","modified_gmt":"2023-07-28T08:16:06","slug":"post-market-surveillance-plan-pmsp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thema-med.com\/en\/2023\/07\/27\/post-market-surveillance-plan-pmsp\/","title":{"rendered":"Post-Market Surveillance Plan (PMSP)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\">27 July 2023<\/p>\n<p>MDR (EU) 2017\/745 describes and elaborates on the structure and minimum content of the <strong>Post-Market Surveillance Plan (PMSP)<\/strong> previously only mentioned in MDD 93\/42\/EEC as amended.<\/p>\n<p>MDR (EU) 2017\/745 in <strong>Annex III<\/strong> requires Manufacturers to have a <strong>systematic Post-Market Surveillance (PMS) procedure<\/strong>, including a <strong>Plan<\/strong>, to be applied to the organization and related to each device and\/or device family.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, the Manufacturer must implement, for each Medical Device, a post-marketing surveillance system that <strong>collects, records, and analyzes<\/strong> data on the quality, performance, and safety of the device.<\/p>\n<p>The data collected must be used to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>update the <strong>risk and benefit assessment<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>update <strong>design<\/strong> and <strong>manufacturing<\/strong> information, <strong>instructions<\/strong> <strong>for use<\/strong> and <strong>labelling<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>updating the <strong>clinical assessment<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>update the safety and clinical performance <strong>summary<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>identify the needs for <strong>preventive and corrective actions<\/strong>;<\/li>\n<li>contribute to <strong>postmarket surveillance<\/strong> of other devices;<\/li>\n<li>identify and report <strong>trends<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The post-market surveillance system should be part of the <strong>Quality Management System<\/strong> and should be continuously updated.<\/p>\n<p>Article 84 MDR stipulates that the post-market surveillance system must be based on a <strong>post-market surveillance plan (PMSP),<\/strong> the requirements of which are defined in Annex III and which must be part of the technical documentation in Annex II.<\/p>\n<p>Annex.III item I, precisely, defines the <strong>essential contents<\/strong> of the PMS plan are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Data on <strong>serious incidents<\/strong> including information from PSURs and corrective safety actions in the field;<\/li>\n<li>Information on <strong>nonserious incidents<\/strong> and data on possible side effects;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Trend<\/strong> reports;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Complaints <\/strong>provided by users Distributors and Importers;<\/li>\n<li>Data regarding <strong>similar<\/strong> medical devices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>1- POST-MARKET CLINICAL FOLLOW UP PLAN (PMCFP)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The post-market surveillance (PMS) process must, among other things, include di and a <strong>Post-Market Clinical Follow Up (PMCFP) plan<\/strong> or a reason why the process is not applicable.<\/p>\n<p>The clinical evaluation process consisting of continuous generation, collection, analysis, and evaluation of clinical data must verify the <strong>safety, performance<\/strong>, and <strong>clinical benefit<\/strong> of a Medical Device, is directly linked with the post-market surveillance system, and must include the post-market clinical follow-up process (PMCF).<\/p>\n<p>PMCF is precisely defined as an ongoing process that updates the clinical evaluation and is addressed in the manufacturer&#8217;s postmarket surveillance plan.
