{"id":18706,"date":"2021-07-28T11:30:01","date_gmt":"2021-07-28T09:30:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thema-med.com\/?p=18706"},"modified":"2023-01-25T17:16:49","modified_gmt":"2023-01-25T16:16:49","slug":"mexico-amendments-to-the-medical-devices-regulation-from-1-june-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thema-med.com\/en\/2021\/07\/28\/mexico-amendments-to-the-medical-devices-regulation-from-1-june-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"MEXICO: amendments to the Medical Devices Regulation from 1 June 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>Since the <strong>1st of June 2021<\/strong> <strong>amendments <\/strong>to the <strong>Health Supplies Regulation (Reglamento de Insumos para la Salud RIS<\/strong>, which also includes the<strong> regulations for Medical Devices<\/strong>) have come into effect in order to eliminate bureaucratic redundancy, to optimise the processes required for quality management and to strengthen the role of post-market surveillance.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The changes have been officialized with the publication of the decree of reference, Decreto por el que se reforman, adicionan y derogan diversas disposiciones del Reglamento de Insumos para la Salud, on the Official federal Journal (Diario Oficial de la Federaci\u00f3n \u2013 DOF) last May 31 2021.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-18681\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thema-med.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/messico-modifica-regolamento-dispositivi-medici-1024x536.jpg\" alt=\"Mexico amendments to the Medical Devices Regulation from 1 June 2021\" \/>\r\n<figcaption>Amendments to the Medical Devices Regulation from 1 June 2021<\/figcaption>\r\n<\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What are the most significant changes?<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Elimination of the obligation to translate into Spanish<\/strong>. The Mexican Regulatory Authority Cofepris (Comisi\u00f3n Federal para la Protecci\u00f3n contra Riesgos Sanitarios) removes the obligation of sending documents only in Spanish, accepting them also in English, in order to reduce the time and cost of third-party translations.<\/li>\r\n<li><strong>Changes applied to the process of renewing registrations<\/strong>. Prior to these changes, any registration had to be renewed every 5 years. Now, after 5 years, if your registration is renewed, you don\u2019t need to submit further renewals unless there are safety issues with the product.
