{"id":14385,"date":"2020-04-20T16:57:13","date_gmt":"2020-04-20T14:57:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thema-med.com\/?p=14385"},"modified":"2020-04-20T16:57:13","modified_gmt":"2020-04-20T14:57:13","slug":"european-parliament-votes-to-postpone-mdr-to-may-26-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thema-med.com\/en\/2020\/04\/20\/european-parliament-votes-to-postpone-mdr-to-may-26-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"European Parliament votes to postpone MDR to May 26, 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By urgent procedure\nwith 693 votes to 1 and 2 abstentions, last April 17 the <strong>European Parliament\nvoted <\/strong>the proposal of the European Commission to postpone the application\nof <strong>MDR (UE) 2017\/745 by one year, i.e. May 26, 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thema-med.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/voto-parlamento-europeo-rinvio-mdr-blog-1-1024x535.png\" alt=\"European Parliament votes to postpone MDR to May 26, 2021\" class=\"wp-image-14386\"\/><figcaption>European Parliament votes to postpone MDR to May 26, 2021<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Given the health emergency caused by COVID-19, there is a fear that there may be shortages or delays in obtaining the medical devices necessary to combat this pandemic.<br>The European Parliament is therefore supporting the proposal to postpone the application of this Regulation by one year to allow authorities and manufacturers alike to prioritise the fight against the coronavirus pandemic by continuing under current procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposal has to\nbe <strong>approved by the European Council.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the MDR can\nbe postponed by one year, the requirements to be applied are a lot.
