Last September and with the support of Health Canada, the A.S.C. (Advertising Standards Canada) published a draft of the guideline “Consumer Advertising Guidelines for Marketed Health Products” about the regulation of the advertising in healthcare.
The guideline is also applicable to the Medical Device Licence Holders and all the stakeholders involved/interested in healthcare product advertising, directed to Canadian consumers/users and broadcasted through media, including Internet.
Moreover, the guideline defines:
– responsibilities of specific advertising action;
– how to communicate the intended use;
– applicability and extension of the requirements.
At the moment, the guideline is on public consultation. Comments can be submitted by November 21, 2016.
