Last March 13, the US Government presented a budget estimate for 2018 by means of the “America First – A Budget Blueprint To Make America Great Again” document.
Among the Department of Health and Human Service objectives there is also the need to adjust taxes for device registration until reaching 2 billion by 2018, 1 billion more than in 2017. Therefore, after a year characterized by tax decrease such as 2017, it is probable that in 2018 the principal taxes (e.g. establishment registration fee, 510(k) filing fee, etc.) will increase significantly.
As the document states, such increases should be compensated by improving efficiency and speeding up the necessary premarket approval process.
